The LaGrange Granger Wrestling team won 4th place at the JC Ferrell Dual at Central Carrollton High School on Saturday. The Grangers beat the McIntosh Cheifs 39-24, stung the Calhoun Yellow Jackets 42-39 racking up 5 pins in a row during the match, demolished the Bowdon Red Devils 48-12 before losing to Tournament champions Central Carrollton Lions 24-51. In the crossover match to determine 3rd / 4th place the Grangers fell to the Mt Zion Eagles 33-42 in a hard fought match.
Hunter Brooks and Matt Callaway both won 5 matches on the day. Matt lead the way with 5 pins and Hunter had 4 pins. Grayson Whaley, Colin Cavender, Julian Santiago, and Gunner Cappinger all had 4 wins and multiple pins. Other winning Grangers were Austin Skiff, Jayden McCurty, Asa Leath, Tavarious Reed, Tayvon Howard and Devin Harris.
This 4th place victory was a remarkable accomplishment for our Wrestlers because the Grangers were giving up 5 weight classes on Saturday equating to a loss of 30 points in every dual match.
The Granger Wrestling friends and family once again made a strong showing in Carrollton supporting their team !!! – we look forward to seeing all of you again when we travel to Opelika this Tuesday for a Tri Meet. We wrestle again later this week, on Saturday, at Russell County High School where we will do battle in the Trail of Tears dual tournament.
